Eligibility:  

Who are we looking for?

  • Opportunities are available to students fluent in Mandarin and English and who are full-time students graduating in an upcoming semester.
  • Students must be willing to work at the FleishmanHillard Brussels office for up to one year after graduation and then relocate to a FleishmanHillard China office.
  • Consideration will be given to students in all areas of study who possess well-developed research, writing and communication skills. We encourage individuals with an interest in public relations, public affairs, communications, international business or professional services to apply.

What you will do:

  • Provide client support including event development and management, stakeholder outreach, media relations, digital engagement and content creation
  • Write, edit and proofread materials in AP style, including press releases, pitch letters, fact sheets and client correspondence with supervisor guidance
  • Track developments of specific EU political and policy initiatives, through monitoring of social and traditional media; attendance at conferences and regular interaction with specialist information sources
  • Aid teams in pitching story ideas and participate in brainstorming sessions
  • Participate in business development activities including brainstorms, industry and issue research, media analysis, and stakeholder mapping
  • Research specific issues in depth as required by clients or other team members
  • Become knowledgeable about the European Union political system and its interrelationships with both national political systems and the European public
  • Collaborate on additional projects based on office needs

What you will receive:

A Euro €3,500 scholarship will be awarded. The student will be considered for an entry-level position at the FleishmanHillard office in Brussels, Belgium. After successful completion of up to one year employment in Belgium, FleishmanHillard and the student will discuss transferring to a China office or another office in the FleishmanHillard network that will benefit from their training, education and bilingual skills.

  • Candidates must be fluent (speaking and writing) in English and Mandarin
  • Candidates must be eligible to work for Belgium employer

Provide intensive practical training within all facets of the Public Relations/Public Affairs field while leveraging a candidate’s bi-cultural understanding of the European and China markets. With years of experience helping Chinese companies establish their businesses and their brands in the United States, Europe, Latin America and Africa, FleishmanHillard is intensifying its focus on Chinese companies poised for global growth. Under the mentorship of a Senior Vice President within the organization, China Master’s Exchange Fellows (CME) will have the opportunity to help counsel Chinese companies expanding their business abroad. CME Fellows gain firsthand experience and insight into FleishmanHillard global operations and are integral members on their account teams. CME Fellows learn the fundamentals of public relations and public affairs including writing, media monitoring, media relations, community outreach, client relationship management and budgeting, social media strategy development, research and analytics, new business presentations and more. Fellows are aligned with a specific FleishmanHillard practice group that could include: corporate communications, consumer marketing, public affairs, media relations, crisis communications, research and analytics, technology, digital and social media, financial communications, sustainability, internal communications or reputation management.
